Absence Procedure
If your child is to be absent for any reason, please text school, before 8.30am where possible, using the following number: 07860 054395
Appointments during the school day
Ideally, your child will attend appointments outside the school day. If your child has an unavoidable appointment during the school day, please ensure you send an email to [email protected] (or a message via the MyChild App) at least 24 hours in advance where possible.
Please ensure that your child knows what time they need to come to the Student Reception (by the Sports Hall) to sign out of school. In your email, please detail:
- Student’s full name
- Student’s form group
- Details of the appointment with evidence, if possible
- What time your child will need to leave school
- Whether they are being collected or if they will be making their own way to their appointment.
Leaves of Absence
All requests for leaves of absence must be made by submitting the form below. You will receive a response with the outcome to the leave of absence.
Attendance
Laurus Trust schools are committed to promoting the welfare of our students through regular school attendance. Every day lost to education can have a serious impact on students’ attainments and overall progress in school. The link between good attendance and high levels of achievement is undeniable. Poor attendance and lateness may also be detrimental to the social adjustment and development of students.
We are therefore fully committed to promoting school attendance by providing an environment and ethos where all students feel safe and can build positive relationships with their peers.
As a school, we will:
- Promote and reward good attendance and punctuality
- Deal promptly with the causes of poor attendance and lateness
- Involve all staff, students, parents/carers, governors and outside agencies in promoting good attendance
- Refer to Stockport’s Education Welfare team when students are persistently absent
We ask that parent/carers:
- Promote the importance of good attendance and punctuality
- Ensure their child arrives at school on time each day
- Notify the school each day their child is unable to attend and provide a reason
- Arrange medical appointments, where possible, for out of school hours and provide evidence for all medical appointments.
- Do not take their child/children on holiday in term time
For more information, please read our Attendance Policy under the policies section of our website.
