Students at Laurus Cheadle Hulme have been working hard on their very own art installations to commemorate Remembrance Day on 11 November.
The Year 7s and 8s have used their design skills to create poppies decorated with circular manadala patterns, which have now been combined to make wreaths for their classroom doors.
Students in Year 9 meanwhile have crafted and painted ceramic poppies, which have been placed on wooden stems on the grass outside school to create a poignant red carpet of remembrance.
The work was inspired by Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, a public art installation created in the moat of the Tower of London in 2014, to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the first world war.
The school’s artistic display will now be the focal point of its commemorations on 11 November, and students with gather alongside it to mark the two minutes’ silence at 11.00am.
