During the half term holidays, History students in Year 11 took a trip to Berlin.
The trip was organised in support of their GCSE History studies, but it also offered a great chance for students to take in the culture of the beautiful city!
After arriving the previous evening, students began the first day with a walking tour of Berlin.
During the tour, they saw the Brandenburg Gate, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the East Side Gallery and Hitler’s Bunker.
Afterwards, they took a visit to the Mall of Berlin and had some fun in a friendly bowling competition!
Later in the day, they went on a guided tour of the Reichstag, Berlin’s historic government building.
While there, they learned about the Bundestag and went up to the Reichstag Dome to see the spectacular view of the city’s parliamentary and government district.
The following day began with a visit to the Palace of Tears before moving on to the Checkpoint Charlie Museum and then the Topography of Terror Museum.
On the final day, the group had a guided visit to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, and guided tours of the Stasi Museum and Prison.
Thank you to the staff who made this trip possible, we hope everyone involved found it fun and informative!
