Meet our SEND team

Within our SEND team, we have a SENDCo, SEND Leads, a number of specialist roles and Learning Support Assistants. Our SEND Leads work alongside the Heads of Year and Heads of House to monitor student progress and will ensure that your children have every opportunity to become the best they can be.

SEND Leads liaise with parents, carers, students and outside agencies to make sure that reasonable adjustments are in place to allow students to be fully included and supported in every aspect of school life.

Our SEND team can be contacted via email: [email protected]

SEND Leads

Mrs Gibani

Assistant Head of School & Director of Inclusion (SENDCo)

Mrs Gibani oversees the progress and wellbeing of students with SEND across KS3 and KS4. This involves ensuring that staff have the right training and knowledge and that we have the right provision in place to support all of our students.

Mrs Gibani works alongside the SEND Leads, as well as the pastoral, attendance, behaviour and safeguarding teams to coordinate SEND provision across the school.

Miss O’Brien

Key Stage SEND Lead

Miss O’Brien supports Year 7 students in their transition from primary to secondary school and Year 11 students in their transition into post-16 education.

She works closely with the SEND Leads, the pastoral Heads of Year and Mrs Gibani to coordinate SEND provision. Miss O’Brien is a key point of contact for parents and carers with children in Years 7 and 11.

Mrs Michaels

Year 9 & 10 SEND Lead

Mrs Michaels supports students in their transition from KS3 to KS4 and beyond. She leads on the SEND provision for Year 9 and Year 10, working closely with students, parents and carers, and the other SEND leaders.

Miss Souter

Year 8 SEND Lead

Miss Souter supports students throughout their secondary school journey and specifically coordinates SEND provision for Year 8. She works closely with students in Year 8, their parents and carers, as well as the other SEND Leaders.

Specialist Roles

There are several specialist roles within the team which include:

  • Literacy Specialists
  • Numeracy Specialists
  • Intervention and Inclusion Specialist
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Specialist
  • Psychometric Testing and Intervention Specialist

Our specialist staff carry out one to one interventions and small group sessions with our students where necessary. They also track and monitor progress data to ensure that students make progress within their specialist areas.

Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)

Our Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) support students in lessons and around school. In primary school, they may have been called Teaching Assistants or TAs. Our LSAs are attached to specific year groups, which helps them get to know students well and understand their individual needs.
