On Monday 18th December, Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) hosted its annual Winter Wonderland concert. This year, audiences were treated to one of our biggest concerts yet, with solo and group performances from 18 different acts!
The concert featured a variety of musical performances by students from different year groups, showcasing their talents and skills in singing, playing instruments, and even composing original songs.
Senior Voices got the evening started with three songs: Carol Of The Bells, In This Heart, and Baby It’s Cold Outside.
Next, the Guitar Ensemble presented a tremendous rendition of We Three Kings.
The Silent Echoes, a band made up of students from LCH and Cheadle Hulme High School, followed with a fantastic performance of their original song, Land of Heaven!
George gave the first solo performance of the night with a heart-warming rendition of We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
The Woodwind Group took the stage next and played two Winter favourites: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and Silent Night.
The Orchestra then invited everyone to join them in singing Hark, The Herald Angels Sing, filling the hall with festive cheer!
After that, we had brilliant performances from the String Group, Junior Voices, and then the Mega Choir, who closed the first half of the concert with Christmas Time is Here.
After a short interval, the concert resumed with the Percussion Group who brought back the energy with an amazing performance of Drumming it up.
Next up, we had the Vocal Coaching Choir, a group of students who receive vocal training from a professional coach, who sang All I Want for Christmas.
Little Sound showed us they have big talent as they performed O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, a traditional hymn.
Then, we were treated to a song from Grease, which made us all the more excited for our summer production!
Following this, there were even more spectacular performances from the Year 11 Band, the Brass Group, the Jazz Band, the Year 10 Band, and another Soloist.
The second solo performer of the night was Lila, who had the audience captivated as she sang Coventry Carol, a haunting medieval carol.
Bringing the evening to a close, the Orchestra played two pieces from The Nutcracker before once again inviting the audience to join them in a sing along.
Everyone came together to sing We Wish You A Merry Christmas, ending the concert on a high note.
This year’s Winter Wonderland was a delightfully festive occasion.
A huge congratulations and well done to all our students and staff who made the concert possible, we were blown away by the level of musical talent on display!
We’re grateful to everyone who joined us in this lovely celebration and hope you enjoyed the evening.
