It has been a busy couple of months at Laurus Cheadle Hulme this half term.

To end what has been a brilliant year, we have wrapped up some of the highlights from recent weeks!

Students enjoy the Staff Panto

To end what has been a brilliant year, all students were invited to watch our staff panto!

Thank you to the staff involved for treating our students to such a wonderful performance!

Hanukkah Cookie Making

Students learned about Hanukkah and decorated cookies with designs themed around the holiday.

Cookies have become a popular way of celebrating Hanukkah in Jewish famillies, so this was a great way for students to learn about it!

Festivities continue with Winter Wonderland

On December 20th, we had our annual Winter Wonderland concert.

It was an evening full of festive tunes from our talented musicians and singers.

The concert was split into two parts.

Part One opened with the brilliant LCH Choir, followed by fantastic performances from Advanced Guitar Group and Woodwind Group.

Then, the Orchestra were joined by a soloist from Year 10 and encouraged the audience to sing along when they performed F. Mendelssohn’s rendition of Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.

We then heard from Year 11 Rock Band, String Group and Senior Voices before taking a short interval.

The night continued with performances from Percussion Group, Guitar Group, Chicago, Senior Choir, Jazz Band, Big Sound, and the Year 10 Rock Band.

For the grand finale, the audience were once again invited to sing along as the Orchestra played We Wish You a Merry Christmas by A. Warrell.

LCH would like to thank and congratulate all the students involved in Winter Wonderland.

A big thank you to all the staff who made the evening possible, and of course thank you to our wonderful audience for getting into the Christmas spirit with us!

Computing students take a crack at CyberFirst Girls’ competition

Ten teams of budding computer scientists at Laurus Cheadle Hulme competed in the National Cyber Security Centre’s CyberFirst Girls’ competition.

The competition aims to inspire girls to get into Cyber security and computer science.

It was a tough competition, and although they didn’t reach the finals, the girls put in a fantastic effort and learnt a lot.

It is brilliant to see so many students engaged with and excited about computing!

Duke of Edinburgh Presentation Evening

Over 90 students received their DofE Bronze Award certificates in our first ever DofE presentation evening.

This is a huge achievement, well done to all DofE participants!

The Wellspring Appeal

Following on from the success of this year’s appeal, we received this message from the Wellspring:

“Thank you to Laurus Cheadle Hulme for all of their support this year. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas break, it was great to meet you all!”

Showstopping designs for Art competition

Our fantastic students produced their own Great British Bake Off showstopper designs as part of a competition run by the Art department.

Have a look at some of the winning entries!

Well done to everyone who participated!

That’s a wrap!

From all of us at Laurus Cheadle Hulme, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
