8 Student Leaders from Year 10 at LCH attended Stockport Youth Summit recently at Stockport Town Hall. Our students presented their opinions and their voice in relation to a variety of important issues that teenagers face in today’s society.
This year’s summit focused on mental wellbeing, linking to the delivery of One Future, the Mental Health Strategy, the SEND Strategy, and the Five Ways to Wellbeing. The workshops addressed key areas:
- Belonging
- Anxiety
- Self help/iThrive
- Schools and mental health with a whole school approach
- Climate and wellbeing
The Youth Summit aims to provide a platform for influential leaders in Stockport to hear and understand the key issues impacting young people’s wellbeing. Our goal is to work together to improve these areas, supporting Stockport to become a place where young people both belong and thrive, directly linking to our One Future vision.
Organised by PIEUK and with key figures within Stockport, such as Councillor Mark Hunter and Chief Executive Officer Micheal Cullen, the event celebrated and encouraged everyone to make a pledge to improve the future of everyone in Stockport.
Rayan was selected to be a member of the Student Panel and spoke articulately and passionately in front of over 250 students about matters that affect all students.
