Laurus Cheadle Hulme officially opened their brand new 3G football pitch on Wednesday 5th October, with Stockport County’s Manager, Dave Challinor officially cutting the ribbon to declare the pitch open.

The pitch has been part-funded by the Football Foundation and from the generosity of the Law Family Educational Trust, which will provide students at the school, along with the wider community, with fantastic football facilities for years to come.

Ed Haslam (Trust Director of Sporting Excellence), Liam Devlin (Football Foundation Delivery Manager), John Peet (Head of School), Rob Clare (Trust Sports Community and Development Director) and Linda Magrath (CEO of the Laurus Trust)

After securing grants from the Football Foundation and the Law Family Educational Trust, work began on the football pitch in the Spring of 2022 to ensure that the facility was ready to kick off the season in September for students from Laurus Cheadle Hulme, the Cheshire Girls Football League and local community clubs, Inter Cheadle JFC, Queensgate FC and Stockport County Community Trust.

Head of School John Peet said:

“We are grateful for the support and funding from the Football Foundation and the Law Family Educational Trust.

This football facility is already making a positive impact with our students on a daily basis, including additional extra-curricular activities and further opportunities for the ELITE Pathway to develop.

Club Laurus opens during the evenings and weekends for community use and is benefitting up to 1,000 children playing sport weekly at the site, and we have had fantastic feedback since opening.”
