On Thursday 3rd April, Emily Saville (Head Student) and Jack Cullenaine (Prefect) travelled to Westminster to take part in the House of Commons Environmental Committee.
The students entered through Portcullis House and were greeted by the committee. It was chaired by Toby Perkins (MP). The students became urban planners and designed a new green town with other committee members. The students reflected on their town planning and put forward their recommendations for the committee in the Boothroyd Room.
Students put forward towns with eco-friendly factors, how the town works for people and their well-being in a creative and realistic manner.
Our students contributions will now be put forward to policy makers and debated in the House of Commons ahead of publishing their report.
It was a privilege to witness our students have such a special platform to demonstrate their views and influence the development of future housing and new towns. Their insight, thoughts and honesty were inspired. To see the students flourish in such an impactful manner and wonderful setting has made us very proud.
