Students and staff at Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) are celebrating after receiving a prestigious Artsmark Gold Award.
Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It transforms teaching through creativity, empowering teachers with the skills they need to embed arts, culture and creativity across the whole curriculum, and is proven to support student outcomes and wellbeing.
To achieve our Artsmark Award, we had to develop our arts and cultural provision to embed a broad and ambitious curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school.
Over two years, we have received professional support through an immersive learning programme from Artsmark’s delivery partner, Goldsmiths, University of London, who are world-renowned leaders in creative pedagogy and cultural placemaking.
The Artsmark Assessor commended Laurus Cheadle Hulme on “embedding arts and culture across its curriculum through a clear strategic vision aligned with the school’s ethos,” and “successfully creating a culture where arts are celebrated, with notable achievements such as the development of creative electives, high student engagement in arts performances, and collaborations with external organisations to enrich arts education.”
On receiving the award, Mr Peet, Head of School, said:
“We’re extremely proud of achieving our Artsmark Gold Award. We are committed to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education. The Artsmark journey has been transformative for our students. Through diverse opportunities to engage with the arts, our school has nurtured both academic success and personal development, empowering students to express themselves creatively and confidently.”
